Welcome Message from Prof. Jean-Loup Chappelet, Director of IDHEAP and Chairman of the Local Organising Committee.

Dear potential participants,

We are very happy that the 2011 Congress of the International Institute of Administrative Sciences will take place in Lausanne, Switzerland, and we shall be very honoured to welcome you to IDHEAP, the Swiss Graduate School of Public Administration, on the campus of the University of Lausanne where our sessions will take place. IDHEAP is celebrating its thirtieth anniversary in 2011.

Making sure that the theories of administrative sciences are transferred into the practice of the public administrations is one of the fundamental missions of IDHEAP. The scientific programme of the congress has been prepared to this effect in close cooperation with our partners coordinated by Prof. Geert Bouckaert. It will enable fruitful discussions between theoreticians and practitioners in Switzerland and worldwide

Switzerland is a confederation of states with particularly original political and administrative structures. It is also a multicultural country which offers many possibilities for discoveries in its cities, countryside and mountains. I hope the IIAS 2011 Congress will also give you the opportunity to better discover this astonishing country and its population.

Prof. Jean-Loup Chappelet
